7 Mistakes Non-Technical Founders Make With Custom MVPs
These are the ones we see repeatedly. Not because founders are careless — because they're predictable responses to specific pressures.
1. Building too much the first time.
The scope creep problem. Every feature feels essential until you've shipped the product without it and discovered that users don't miss it. The MVP should do the minimum necessary to answer the core question. Not the minimum you'd be comfortable with. The actual minimum.
2. Skipping the discovery phase to save time.
Discovery doesn't slow projects down. Building the wrong thing, discovering it late, and rebuilding it slows projects down. Every week spent in proper discovery saves two to three weeks in development.
3. Judging by what they can see, not what it does.
